T-Mobile US Inc will fire company employees who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by April 2, according to an internal company memo published on independent blog TMOnews.com.

According to the blog, T-Mobile’s new policy was announced in an email from its hiring chief to all employees on Friday. It follows a Jan. 13 US Supreme Court ruling that blocked President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccination or testing mandate for large corporations.
“Employees who have not yet taken action to receive their first dose and upload evidence by February 21 will be placed on unpaid leave,” the blog quoted the memo as saying. “Affected employees who are not fully vaccinated will be separated from T-Mobile by April 2.”

The memo, addressed to “all employees (except international),” said the vaccination rules do not apply to field technicians and most retail roles.

In a statement on Saturday, T-Mobile said, “We require that office workers (with limited exemption for specific roles, locations and statutory housing and exemptions) be fully vaccinated by April 2.” It added that “ID-controlled offices continue to be accessible only to those vaccinated against COVID-19”.
