Under current federal law, the legislature is obliged to disclose securities transactions within 45 days – which means that Schrier should have reported the share purchase before mid-September.
According to Schrier Communications Director Libby Carlson, the Washington Congresswoman was “unaware” of the deal because it was made by her husband David.
“Rep. Schrier was unaware of the transaction, which was made by her husband, who independently manages her finances, ”Carlson told Business Insider. “As soon as she found out about it, she filed the required complaint.”
Carlson also told Insider that Schrier “has never missed a transaction reporting deadline and will ensure that all of those deadlines are met in the future.”
